Sales of previously owned U.S. homes unexpectedly rose in January to the second-highest pace since early 2007, indicating the industry will keep prospering well into 2016.

Mortgage Rates Sink to Lowest Levels in More Than a Year
According to the latest data released by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp., the 30-year fixed rate average dropped to 3.62 percent, the 15-year fixed rate average slipped to 2.93 percent, and the five-year adjustable-rate average fell to 2.79 percent.
