Home prices rise 11%
According to the new data from the S&P/Case-Shriller home price index, home prices posted their first double-digital gain in the third quarter since near the height of the housing bubble.  However, the quarter-over quarter gain slowed to 3%, which suggests the market’s shift to slower growth rather than one about to accelerate.

If You Build It, Will They Come?
Recently, the Commerce Department reported that building permits increased in both September and October. While builders are going ahead with these lofty construction plans, the question of whether or not there will be enough buyers for all these new homes is the main issue.

Short sales falling out of favor with lenders as prices surge
According to the latest report from RealtyTrac, short sales have become less favorable for lenders due to the strong demand from institutional investors and other cash buyers able to buy at public foreclosure auctions. Lenders are going back to traditional foreclosure auction sales and bank-owned sales as a result.
