Happy Friday! We’re on the eve of the third weekend of Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate’s National Open House Month, and we’re excited to see everyone get out there. But first, a few Real Estate Resource Roundup articles to start the weekend off right!

Just what the title says, only the KCM Crew reveals how they got to this number. Pretty interesting!

Home-Sales Data Belie “Lukewarm” Market
An unusually strong reading for U.S. new-home sales in August might not be enough to kick the market into higher gear. The latest Zelman & Associates survey of home-builder executives found that orders increased by 7 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis in August from July and by 21 percent from August 2013, the largest annual gain since June 2013.

Housing Starts in U.S. Dropped More Than Forecast in August
Housing starts slumped in August after reaching the highest level in almost seven years, pointing to an uneven pickup in the U.S. residential real-estate market that will limit its contribution to economic growth.

Mortgage Myths May Be Hampering U.S. Demand: Survey
Getting a mortgage in the United States may be easier than many borrowers think, according to a survey released Monday by Wells Fargo. Nearly two-thirds of respondents thought that a very good credit score was necessary to buy a home, and more than 40 percent thought they needed a down payment equal to at least 20 percent of the purchase price to buy a home.

New Home Purchases Down by 9 Percent
The Mortgage Bankers Association Builder Application Survey data for August 2014 shows mortgage applications for new home purchases decreased by 9 percent relative to the previous month, not including any adjustment for typical seasonal patterns.

And some good stuff from around the network:
