Eric Post

Eric Post of Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate Realty Partners, answers ten questions with Clean Slate, and talks about authenticity, trust and selling the Castle Neuschwanstein in Germany.

  1. Which of our BHGRE®P.A.I.G.E. (Passion, Authenticity, Innovation, Growth, Excellence) core values do you identify with most, and why?

I most closely identify with “Authenticity.” In a world full of premeditated social media posts, boastful marketing campaigns and forgettable corporate taglines, it’s refreshing to meet authentic people. I love the saying, “An original is hard to find, but easy to recognize.”

  2. What are your favorite qualities in a customer?

Trust. Some might say loyalty. I don’t want loyalty, I want trust. Loyalty is the product of having trust.  I trust that they are going to do what they say, and they trust me that I’ll give them the same in return.

  3. What is the one characteristic that’s helped you the most in your career?

Having a sense of abundance and having good intentions. I know that there’s enough business for everybody. I know that the buyer will find their perfect home if patient. I know that a seller will sell their home for the fair market value. I have faith that things will always work out well when there’s a plan and persistence to make it happen.

  4. What was the last book you read?

The Challenger Sale: Taking Control of the Customer Conversation by Matthew Dixon.  I consider that to be a must read for ANYBODY in sales.

  5. If you were not in real estate, what would you be doing?

I wouldn’t. If I’d rather be doing something else, I would be.

  6. What was the last song you heard that you couldn’t stop humming?

“Fancy” by Iggy Azalea. Yes, I do have kids.

  7. Who is your real-life hero?

My wife’s grandfather. He’s 93 and the patriarch of the family. He has been married for over 70 years and has 3 daughters who look up to him. I hope to live as long, as full, and have as much positive influence on my family as he has.

  8. What is your favorite motto?

Today is the greatest day I’ll ever know.

  9. If you could sell a home in any market in the world, where would it be?

I’d love to sell an old castle. Specifically, the Castle Neuschwanstein in Germany. No special reason, except that I think it’s awesome!

  10. What advice would you give your younger self starting out in real estate?

Don’t ever try to be something you’re not. Don’t compare yourself to anybody else. Keep your feet on the ground, but allow your head to be in the clouds. Dream bigger than you think is possible, and be prepared to do the work to get it.
