Oh, No. I’ve Been Memed!!!

Posted by Sherry Chris

The latest new thing to hit the real estate blogosphere is the “Blog Meme.” In essence, it is a blog chain letter that lets others learn more about you and vice versa. I am still trying to trace its origin, but that part does not really matter. The interesting thing for me is that while blogging is transparent, it is also anonymous, and this is a good way to learn more about your fellow bloggers. Last Friday, I noticed on Facebook that Rudy from Trulia had Memed me … check out his blog about Meming.

So, I got to work over the weekend answering the 8 questions below. After you answer the questions, you choose 8 bloggers and ask them to answer the 8 questions, and so on, and so on … this could go on for a long time. I think we should plan to have a meme reception at Bloggers Connect. Well, here goes:

1. Who is your favorite musical artist?

I really like the combination of Carlos Santana with Rob Thomascheck out this song … it is a classic.

2. Who is your favorite artist?

I have a great interest in contemporary art and contemporary folk art. One of my favorite artists is Woodie Long, a self-taught artist who grew up very poor. I have one of his pieces hanging in my office. The son of sharecroppers, he had no formal education of any kind. I love his style; I love his story. You can watch him work on YouTube.

3. Who is your favorite blogger?

I am a big fan of Seth’s. He wrote Purple Cow, The Dip, Meatball Sundae, and several other witty but real books on marketing. I learn something with every blog post of his that I read. He just kind of tells it like it is.

4. If you could meet anyone, who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

I would like to meet up with some of the people I wrote about in this blog: Carlos Santana, Rob Thomas, Woodie Long. It would be fun to take them out to dinner as a group and get to know them. I have a feeling we would all have a great evening together.

5. What did you want to be when you grew up?

From the time when I was a little girl, I saw myself somehow connected to marketing. My school projects were marketing works of art and marketing was my favorite subject in high school. In a strange way I am realizing my dream, but thankfully I have a talented marketing team to keep me headed in the right direction.

6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?

To add another piece of music to this blog, did you know that Rob Thomas (of Santana fame above) has his own band – Matchbox 20… here is a great song

7. If you could live in any time in history, when would it be and why?

I am really excited to be living now, the pace of change is mesmerizing. I have to say I feel lucky to have started my career in the early eighties though… to experience the vast differences, well, it is a gift. During my career we have gone from dial phones to iPhones – how cool is that?

8. What is the most interesting job you have ever had?

Without question, what I am doing right now! Eight months to launch a new and exciting global brand with an established, respected and widely recognized brand name, the support of Realogy, and an entirely clean slate… it is a dream come true, and then some! Stay tuned.Tag, you’re it…please answer the 8 questions on your blog, and then tag 8 of your friends to do the same.
